One of my core values is choosing to consume products that respect both my body and the environment, which also counts for choosing a massage oil. Therefore, in my massages, I only use organic cold-pressed vegetable oils instead of conventional petroleum-based synthetic oils and lotions found everywhere, from supermarkets to expensive shops.
Organic vegetal oils
Sweet almond oil
My preferred oil is the Sweet Almond oil, which nurtures the skin and has many benefits:
- it´s a powerful moisturizer
- has anti-inflammatory properties
- rich in vitamin-E, so it reduces sunburns, aging signs and scar stains
- rich in vitamin-A
- has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties
- great carrier oil to use with essential oils for massage and aromatherapy
The domesticated almond tree appeared around 4000 B.C. and its oil has been used by ancient Chinese, Persian, Greek and Ayurvedic medicine to alleviate various skin ailments such as eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, and seborrheic dermatitis.
In order to profit from its great properties, it is important to use the purest oil that you can get. That means it should be organic if possible, unrefined and cold-press. Often in supermarkets and pharmacies, you will get refined oils that have lost most of their properties.
In my massages, I use a pure cold-pressed almond oil produced in Spain. I swear it’s an awesome oil as it removed eczemas that I had on my hands.
Almond oil as a personal lubricant
Almond oil is also great for using as a lubricant for intimate moments. Nevertheless, it is an oil, so that means that it isn’t condom safe. That’s why I choose to use plant-based lubes for sexual intercourse.
Other vegetal oils
I also use Coconut oil on demand.
